Lady Gaga may have been born this way, but despite what you may think, you most certainly weren’t born with your allergies, nor do you have to continue battling them year after year. Take it from someone who had allergies in previous years and has yet to suffer a single sneeze this one…there is hope for you.
Think about how many times you’ve heard someone say, “I never used to have allergies, but this year…” In fact, what we need to consider is not whether the pollen counts are higher, but whether our bodies are prepared to handle the increase and take the season in stride.
We constantly come in contact with viruses but only sometimes get sick. Similarly, we are always exposed to pollens, but only sometimes get allergic reactions. How your body reacts to allergens depends ultimately on the health of your gut.
80% of our immune system resides in our gut. If our gut is not healthy because of poor dietary habits or toxic overload, our immune system will be weakened, allowing for more viruses, pollens and other invaders to gain leverage against our bodies. Getting your body back on track takes time, but there are a few ways you can quickly relieve your symptoms without over-the-counter medications and their unfavorable side-effects:
- Use a neti pot. Those who use them swear by them (including me). They are far less intimidating once you’ve tried it. The salt water solution doesn’t hurt and does cause your nasal passages to open so you can breathe with greater ease.
- The potency of Eucalyptus will help clear congestion, relieve sinus symptoms and loosen mucus. So skip the cold remedies in favor of this essential oil, which, when combined with steam, becomes even more effective at relieving allergy symptoms.
- Switch to a healing diet. When you give your body the nutrients it’s missing, your immune system will be better able to protect you. Year on year, your allergies will worsen until you give your body the attention it needs to get stronger. Email me to schedule a free initial coaching consult and begin healing your body now.
