Have you ever noticed how the tone of your morning tends to set your pace for your entire day?
I’ve noticed that on the days when I wake up late, rush to get ready and don’t have time to center and ground myself in all that I want for the day ahead, things tend to get a bit crazy! I’m hereby dubbing September self-care month, and here are a few of my favorite ways to start your day with a little self-love:
Secret #1 – Start your day the evening before
Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed and wondered why? Perhaps it’s how you went to sleep the night before. Your subconscious mind will work hard at whatever you task it with. Thinking good thoughts before you go to bed will help you start your day with a positive outlook – one that tends to make loving yourself and your day that much more enjoyable.
Secret #2 – Skip that second scoop of ice cream
Sugar is a known toxin and acts like a drug in your body. Just like drugs which give an addict a short high and then a reverberating low, sugar will do the same to your emotions. Having sugar before bed leads to morning cravings for more of the same – making it harder to love yourself and stay positive without your ongoing sugar fix.
Secret #3 – Set 2 alarms (and get going for the first one)
Whether you are a single lady, a wife, a mother or a career mobster (in which case let me know how I can stay on your good side), you likely don’t have a lot of time that is simply YOURS. The secret to this self-love trick is to get up and purposefully NOT rush into your day. Instead, use the time to ease into your day- meditate, reflect, stretch or just enjoy some time for yourself. This is an essential part of taking good care of your mental and physical health.
What will you do to begin loving yourself intentionally into the day?
