I thought after all the supportive responses to my horror at the Australian introduction of child beauty pageants, this lovely little thought and image would be timely to share. It was quite a rant, but I see from all your comments, you agree with me that these pageants are not in any way positive for growing and impressionable little girls.
What we should be teaching our girls is just as it says above, finding ways to ensure they know that true and lasting beauty comes from the heart, soul, giving, laughing, sharing, loving and learning. Every girl, and indeed every young woman and woman, is beautiful in their own right, not for the way they look or what they wear. They are beautiful just because they exist.
